Facilities (Soft Services) Manager

We are looking for an experienced Facilities (Soft Services) Manager to lead and develop our Facilities function, ensuring our site remains safe, compliant, efficient and fit for the future. 

 

Overview of the role 

Reporting to the Head of Maintenance & Facilities, you will take ownership of all soft services and facilities operations across the site. This is a varied leadership role encompassing facilities management, site services, security, waste operations, grounds maintenance, contractor management and workplace services. 

You will play a key role in supporting business operations, driving continuous improvement and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and company standards. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Lead, develop and manage the Facilities team, ensuring high standards of service delivery.  

  • Manage Facilities Team Leaders, supporting performance, development, succession planning and resource management.  

  • Ensure all buildings, facilities, infrastructure and site services are maintained to a safe, compliant and operational standard.  

  • Promote a positive Health, Safety and Environmental culture across all Facilities activities.  

  • Ensure statutory inspections, testing and maintenance activities are completed and appropriately recorded.  

  • Develop and implement sustainability initiatives to reduce energy consumption and waste.  

  • Manage facilities budgets and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiencies.  

  • Oversee contractor performance, service agreements and Permit to Work compliance.  

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver infrastructure improvements and operational priorities.  

  • Lead and manage site physical security, including access control, visitor management, CCTV and guarding services.  

  • Manage waste operations, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and company requirements.  

  • Oversee grounds maintenance, engineering stores and general site support services.  

  • Maintain site infrastructure records, drawings, servicing schedules and statutory documentation.  

  • Monitor facilities performance and develop improvement plans to enhance service delivery.  

  • Act as the primary point of contact for Facilities Management across the business. 

 

 

 

Essential 

  • Right to live and work in the UK. 

  • Relevant technical, apprenticeship or professional qualification in Facilities Management, Building Services, Engineering or a related discipline. 

  • Significant experience in Facilities, Site or Building Management. 

  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams. 

  • Strong understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation. 

  • Experience managing contractors and service providers. 

  • Experience delivering maintenance, repair and improvement projects within agreed budgets and timescales. 

  • Excellent planning, organisational and stakeholder management skills. 

  • Ability to develop innovative solutions to operational challenges. 

Desirable 

  • HNC, HND or Degree in Facilities Management, Building Services, Mechanical Engineering or similar. 

  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification. 

  • IWFM membership or other relevant professional accreditation. 

  • Experience managing security, waste management and grounds maintenance services. 

  • Experience using Microsoft Office and CMMS systems. 

 

This role will be worked over a 4.5 day week; Monday to Thursday 08:00 – 16:45 and Friday 08:00 – 12:30.
