Description

The Role:

As Despatch Team Lead, you will play a key role in overseeing and coordinating daily despatch operations, ensuring that customer orders are fulfilled accurately, efficiently, and on time. You will contribute to the smooth running of food manufacturing and distribution activities across the business as directed by the management team.

This role exists to ensure operational efficiency within the despatch function, maintaining high standards of quality, productivity, and customer service.

Your Duties:

  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily despatch activities, ensuring quality and productivity standards are consistently met.
  • Liaise with the management team to ensure operations meet customer demand and production schedules.
  • Provide first-line support in resolving picking issues, including quality concerns, shortages, or damages.
  • Ensure intake and despatch operations run efficiently without bottlenecks.
  • Oversee timely and accurate dispatch of customer orders.
  • Ensure all paperwork and documentation is completed accurately and maintained appropriately.
  • Liaise with the administration team to ensure all associated documentation is correct and accounted for.
  • Work closely with the Orders Desk to ensure orders are fulfilled in line with customer requirements.
  • Maintain accurate daily and weekly records of work for approval and timely submission to support invoicing processes.
  • Attend daily meetings as required and provide relevant operational updates and information.
  • Carry out any other duties, within reason and capability, as determined by your Line Manager.

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience in a warehouse, despatch, or logistics environment.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate a team effectively.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Understanding of health, safety, and quality standards in a production environment.

  • Ability to work independently using own initiative.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Flexible approach to working hours.
  • Experience within food production or FMCG environment.
  • Experience using warehouse or stock management systems.
