Description

The Role:

Due to the success of our business, we are looking to recruit a Fibre Services Engineer. In this role you will be responsible for completing enclosures of fibre elements of the network build, supporting head end site builds, aiding the customer install team, and carrying out fibre network maintenance and repair on the passive network. As our Fibre Services Engineer your key responsibilities will be:

  • Perform end to end testing and commissioning of network cabling installed and spliced by internal
  • Generate cable ‘birth certificates’ and ensure these are loaded and held with the relevant inventory management systems
  • Perform fusion, and if necessary, mechanical splices to make adds/changes to the optical network
  • Respond to and resolve fibre faults up to and including fibre breaks (working with third parties to install new sections if necessary)
  • Plan fibre and splicing requirements to meet diversionary work directives
  • Contribute to other fibre related challenges that arise as toob Ltd matures
  • Work with internal process mapping personnel to help define and document new process requirements as they arise.
  • Complete installation of enclosures and cabling works of the network build.
  • Carry out internal auditing of passive network identifying issues and resolutions on legacy areas.

 

 

 

What you’ll bring to toob: 

  • Experienced in fibre deployment, including splicing and test, preferably in a FTTH/FTTP environment
  • Ability to translate fibre designs and implementation splicing schedules
  • A proven track record of installation and connection of blown fibre tubing
  • Familiar with testing practices including OTDR and IOLM
  • Working knowledge of blown fibre tubing integrity tests
  • Competent with asset management software and as-built record creation
  • Experience liaising with or managing contractors and sub-contractors on behalf of a client organisation
  • Working knowledge of Exfo test units and Testflow software (desirable)
  • PIA Qualified to work at height

  • PIA S7 & PIA S8
  • IPAF 1b
