Description
Drop-In Support Volunteer
Location: Herriot Hospice @ the Lambert, Thirsk
Hours: 2 minimum
Closing date: 05/06/2026
We are looking for volunteers to support the Just’B’ Services team in the direct provision of emotional wellbeing support to our Drop-In members and on occasion patients and family members in our Day Patient Unit.
You will assist our volunteer team in providing a non-judgmental, supportive atmosphere for all attendees at the Drop-In, in a professional manner.
This is a listening, talking and supporting role within a hospice setting, requiring excellent empathy and interpersonal skills.
Through volunteering your time at North Yorkshire Hospice Care you are supporting those in our community who are experiencing terminal illness, bereavement, or wish to access emotional wellbeing support. Volunteers are integral to the work of North Yorkshire Hospice Care and we would love to welcome you to our team.
What we’re looking for:
Motivated volunteers to help facilitate our Drop-In. This involves offering face to face pre-bereavement, bereavement and emotional wellbeing support during our weekly Drop in Sessions.
· You will volunteer with our team to support people affected by terminal illness, bereavement, loneliness, isolation, or those accessing our drop in for emotional wellbeing
Preferably you will have a working knowledge of adult safeguarding procedures and protocols and a full understanding of the importance of confidentiality in a care setting or similar.

· If you are successful at interview, we will ask you to complete training via our online system training platform.
· We will complete a DBS check and ask you to provide some information before you begin volunteering.
· Once these steps are completed we will agree your start date.
