Description

Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Commissioning Engineer with proven and substantial experience in E&I (Electrical & Instrumentation) / Electrical commissioning within industrial environments.
This role is focused on the delivery of complex commissioning activities across high-specification industrial projects, including semiconductor, pharmaceutical, life sciences, and other high-tech manufacturing environments.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of taking ownership of commissioning phases for complex E&I / electrical systems, ensuring systems are safely installed, tested, validated, and handed over in line with client and regulatory requirements.  This role requires an individual who is comfortable working autonomously on-site, taking responsibility for commissioning activities from pre-commissioning through to final handover, while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.

Candidates from related backgrounds (e.g. controls/automation, electrical service, system integration) with significant hands-on involvement in commissioning activities will also be considered.

During periods where commissioning activity is reduced, the role will also support service and maintenance of installed systems, ensuring continued operational performance and effective utilisation across projects and service delivery.

Key Requirements

Essential
•    Demonstrated extensive commissioning experience in E&I / Electrical systems within industrial environments (e.g. semiconductor, pharmaceutical, utilities, life sciences, or high-tech manufacturing).
•    Proven experience delivering commissioning activities across the full project lifecycle, from pre-commissioning through to system handover and closeout documentation.
•    Strong working knowledge of E&I / Electrical commissioning methodologies, including: FAT / SAT, I/O checks, Loop checks, Functional testing and system validation
•    Experience commissioning integrated electrical and instrumentation systems, including fault finding and system optimisation.
•    Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues on-site during commissioning phases.
•    Comfortable working directly with clients, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams in a live project environment.

Highly Desirable
•    Experience commissioning life safety systems (e.g. gas detection, fire detection, liquid leak detection, VESDA).
•    Experience working in regulated or high-compliance environments.
•    Strong understanding of health & safety requirements

Responsibilities
•    Take ownership of commissioning activities on assigned projects, ensuring delivery to programme, quality, and safety standards.
•    Develop, coordinate, and execute commissioning plans and activities across project teams, including design, installation, and client stakeholders.
•    Act as a key on-site point of contact for commissioning, supporting engineers, technicians, and subcontractors.
•    Execute testing, fault finding, and validation of electrical and instrumentation systems.
•    Ensure all commissioning documentation is completed, reviewed, and handed over in line with project and client requirements.
•    Support continuous improvement of commissioning processes, standards, and documentation.
•    Support service and maintenance activities on installed systems during periods of reduced commissioning activity.
