Barnsley Hospice is seeking a compassionate and motivated Staff Nurse to join our dedicated In-patient Unit team .

In this rewarding role, you will work as part of our multidisciplinary team to deliver outstanding specialist palliative and end-of-life care. You will take responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating personalised care for a designated group of patients, ensuring their needs and wishes and those of their families remain at the heart of everything you do.

You will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based nursing care, managing and coordinating patient care throughout your shift, supporting safe and effective admissions and discharges, communicating clearly and collaboratively with colleagues to ensure continuity of care, acting as a positive role model for students and volunteers, and upholding professional standards in line with NMC guidance.

About the Role:

Contract: Permanent 
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week) 
Salary: £33,305 per annum 

Note: Salary will be calculated on a pro-rata basis according to the hours worked.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration
  • Has recent post-registration experience, ideally within palliative care, hospice, community, or acute healthcare settings
  • Demonstrates strong evidence-based clinical skills and sound clinical decision-making
  • Works effectively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, person-centred care
  • Communicates with empathy, professionalism, sensitivity, and clarity with patients, families, carers, colleagues, and volunteers
  • Is confident in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualised patient care
  • Maintains accurate clinical records in line with hospice policies and NMC standards
  • Is committed to continuous professional development and maintaining clinical competence
  • Can support, guide, and act as a positive role model for colleagues, students, and volunteers
  • Demonstrates excellent organisational skills and the ability to respond calmly to complex situations
