About the role
We’re looking for a proactive and creative eCommerce Assistant Manager to help grow our charity’s online retail income. Based at our House & Home store in Harrogate, you’ll support the day-to-day running of our online sales operation, primarily through eBay, while helping to develop new digital sales channels and opportunities.
You’ll manage listings, sales, dispatch and customer service to ensure a high-quality online shopping experience, while working to agreed targets for listings, conversion and income growth. Alongside this, you’ll help identify and test new marketplaces such as Vinted, Depop and Facebook Marketplace to expand our reach.
You’ll play a key role in sourcing stock by building relationships with donors, corporate partners and suppliers, and work closely with the wider retail team to identify high-value items for online sale. You’ll also recruit, train and support eCommerce volunteers, ensuring a positive and productive environment.
Working collaboratively with marketing colleagues, you’ll help deliver engaging product promotions and campaigns, while producing performance reports and insights to support trading decisions. You’ll also ensure compliance with online selling regulations, GDPR and charity retail standards, and maintain high standards across the eCommerce workspace.
In addition, you’ll deputise for senior retail managers when required, ensuring smooth operational continuity across the store and online function.
About You
You’ll bring experience in online sales or eCommerce operations, ideally including platforms such as eBay, with a strong understanding of product listings, customer service and digital trading. Analytical and detail-focused, you’re confident working with sales data and turning insights into practical actions that improve performance.
You have a strong interest in sustainable or preloved retail — whether fashion, interiors or homeware and enjoy working in a fast-paced, commercially driven environment. Organised and adaptable, you can manage competing priorities while maintaining high standards across listings, presentation and fulfilment.
You’re confident leading and supporting volunteers, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and you lead by example with a positive, hands-on approach. Creative and motivated, you bring ideas to improve sales performance and enhance the customer experience.
With strong initiative and a collaborative mindset, you’re comfortable working across teams and supporting wider retail activity when needed. You are also willing to manage the physical aspects of the role and travel between sites when required.
Above all, you’re a values-driven team player who is committed to inclusion, safeguarding and delivering excellent standards in everything you do.
